Are YOU going to Redsfest?

When I am asked the same question hundreds of times and I answer it at least 37 yet it continues to come my way on the Twitter, I often come to my handy dandy blog to get everyone down with the 411 in one clean sweep. This edition of “my final answer” is regarding Redsfest.

Because I am one slacker of a secretary at times, Mat’s name failed to make the early list of attendees for this year’s Redsfest. I failed to respond to the travel arrangement email in a timely manner and the rest is history.

In a panic, masses of concerned Reds fans swarmed to my Twitter asking why he wasn’t going as soon as the list was released. Could this be true? Why would Mat not go? How was life going to go on in Cincinnati without Mat getting all Redsfesty?! (this story is 99% fabricated for entertainment purposes only).

Don’t worry, loyal Reds fans, I am here to assure you that Mat and I will both be at Redsfest on December 7th and 8th. That’s right. The double whammy.

I am not entirely sure which event’s Mat will be participating in at this time but I am sure the media relations department will get those details to you in due time. In fact, I am not even really sure what happens at Redsfest but I expect it to be fully excellent.

I plan on doing some exploring but if you would like to say hi, I will be in a new area at Redsfest called the “Reds Connect Zone,” hanging out with some of the other bloggers including Jamie Ramsey, your main man at Better Off Red, and Mark Sheldon from MLB.com an Mark My Word.  Plus, Reds players you follow on Twitter will be stopping by throughout the event for Q&A sessions, games, and more.

If I can answer any more questions regarding Redsfest, feel free to post them in the comments on this post.

My question for you- What’s your favorite part about the Redsfest experience?

See you there.

D.

p.s. Anyone who asks me whether we are going to Redsfest from this point forward is hereby subject to receiving the response, “BLOG” and is not allowed to be mad about it.
…and that’s my final answer.

I love gathering with all the die hard fans that come out to Reds fest and getting a chance to meet your favorite players one on one. Its like a Reds themed Disney world!!!!! You will love it! I think you should host something there! This place is right up your alley! See you there!

Sweet! See you there, Chris!

The players DO deserve a huge ovation at Redsfest for the fantastic season they had. BUT…… the biggest applause and thank you should go to Bob Castellini. I spent years rooting for the Reds when they’d ALWAYS have losing seasons, and trade off their players instead of paying them to stay. After Castellini took over we re-sign our prospects, and even go after great players to better our team. (Latos being one of them) Its great nowadays because we are ALWAYS relevant!
I hope I get to meet Bob to tell him THANK YOU!

I haven’t been yet. This will be my forst year going to Redsfest. I’m looking forward to playing Poker the most though.

I keep hearing about this Poker thing… I need to look up the details.

glad to Mat and you are going to be there I have gone to every reds fest and this year it is going to be bigger then ever enjoy this and hope to see you there

So pumped to see you guys there! My boyfriend is hoping to get a painting of Mat signed! Do you know it Jacqueline and Todd are coming? I sure hope so! Can’t wait to see you all there!

Yes, they will be there! Let me know if you don’t find him to sign it & I’ll try to help.

Wow! Thanks! He and I are gonna try to get to his line! But if we don’t make it I’ll shoot you a tweet! You are fantastic! There needs to be a new award for “Best Baseball Wife” You would win. Hands down.

I know this sounds awful, but my favorite part of Redsfest is the last hour of Day 2, when the Reds ProShop slashes the prices of fanwear and game uses jerseys to a fraction of the regular price. Last year I got a $65 shirt I’d been eyeing in the ProShop for $5!

hahaha! I’ll have to check that out. Gotta love a good sale!

That is awesome! I didn’t know they did that because I always go on Friday, darn! Haha

Mat will basically just sign autographs and take pictures about 2 hours a day both days. They will likely also ask him to participate in the charity poker tournament and/or a few other things like a Q&A with kids, etc.

Redsfest is a fantastic time for us fans and I go every year.

You haven’t tweeted anything about trade rumors – does that mean you haven’t heard any or are you just not sharing (not like you)?

BTW, I am SUPER excited about 2013 – we’re going to be awesome!

Contrary to popular opinion, I keep A LOT to myself. Shocking, I know. Unfortunately, as we learned last off-season, I have no insider info on trades. It’s a real bummer. As for 2013, I couldn’t agree more! The way the season ended stung but I think the boys are going to be REALLLL thirsty for wins next season.

Trade rumors about who? Latos? Why would they trade him? They just got him last year to beef up their rotation which turned out to be the best and most reliable in the entire league. I’d consider Latos to be the Reds #1 starter next season.

Will you taking any pics with the fans if they were to ask for one ? Just wondering , thanks !!

You know, I’m not sure. Some days cameras really freak me out. Odd, I know.

We love Redsfest and go every year both days. We enjoy the chance to meet the players. My favorite thing? The fact that my kids (now 17 and 15) still love to go to this every year with their Dad. Something we love to do together. We all look forward to meeting you and Mat. Thanks for attending and making the long trip. We are very happy you are both part the the Reds family. GO REDLEGS!

That’s awesome. I hope you all have a blast! You can thank Mat for the long trip… he HATES flying.

Can’t wait to see ya there i’ll be there on Friday!

I love the photo ops the best, but some of the best times we’ve had we’re just running into players that were hanging out. BP, Bronson and The Toddfather were always wandering around, and we had a great convo with Jonny Gomes and his mother in law riding up the escalator a few years ago. We stay open to close both days, and we honestly enjoy the entire experience.

Will Cat or Poe be along for the trip? They are just about as famous as their mom and dad! (you could always bring a picture so they are there in spirit)

Mat wont let me bring them :(

Last year was my first time. It was pretty fun. Hoping to get some of my pictures signed this year. If you see me be sure to say hi! reds_pics see ya there hopefully. Reds unfinished business 2013

i’ll be there SATURDAY…..damn early Christmas parties!!!

My favorite part of Redsfest is the vendor areas. I’ve came away with some pretty sweet Reds memorabilia. I keep meaning to get to the CEI store in Blue Ash because they have a hell of a set-up at Redsfest. I’ve never made it to their actual store though because I either forget or they’re closed when I’m in town. (I live outside Columbus)

Can not wait to meet you and Mat….My daughter will be so excited to know that he will be there…..You just made a teenagers day!! Thank you!!

Yay! Glad the long trek will result in some smiles! (you’re very welcome)

I hope you guys enjoy Redsfest. I want to echo others above – we in Cincinnati love you guys and that you’re part of our city. I hope you guys are part of the family for a long time!

I love taking getting to take pictures with the players

Of course we will try to be there!! If we can’t for some reason then we’ll have to visit HG :)

Dallas! What happened on Twitter….I actually looked forward to reading your tweets! :-(

Really sad you’re no longer on Twitter. Your tweets make me laugh

how about you stay home!!!!!!!

Aw… just because you stay in your basement doesn’t mean I have to. Cheer up, bully.

Aw crap. I meant to say “mom’s basement”. :(

Kick some butt girl and hope u and Mat have fun!!

What are the chances Cat and Poe will be making an appearance also?

My Fiance has been to the past 10 redsfest, but this year We are getting married on the 8th. Any chance Mat can sign a congrats ball for my soon to be husband?

Do you mind shooting me an email and I’ll see what I can do? DallasLatos @ Reds .com

So excited to see you guys there!! Mat is my husband and my fave pitcher!! And I can’t get enough of your tweets.. So funny and clever! And those kitties… #presh I hope to meet you and Mat there! I am feeling crafty so i think I’ll make a shirt that says “I’m here for @DallasLatos #redsfest2012″

Redsfest is a blast for the fans. I love volunteering at it every year. My kids love the photo booths where they can have their pictures taken with the players. Those are much better than the autographs for us. Have fun. Don’t get overwhelmed by the crowds!

The reds version of the fan cave is a pretty cool experience. All the TVs and recliners in the midst of chaos is very relaxing. That’s where my wife who is prego with our first child will be most of the time while I try really hard to score autographs from Chris heisey (her favorite player) joey votto and Zack cozart for her.

Ms. Latos,
Off the topic of Redsfest, but what is your opinion on Mat’s upcoming arbritration? I know it sucks for a player who has to listen to a team downplay his abilities and contributions, but I bet you guys have to be excited about the possibility of a new (and much bigger) contract which Mat definitely deserves!

Ms Latos
Best part of Reds Fest is the players reading books to the little kids, they ( players)don’t sign autographs just read a baseball book and the little ones eyes get huge and as tall as Matt is he would be a giant. The other part is the kids only press conference, the get so worked up, my kids love it. Hope to see you there. Please know as reds fans we do appreate when you guys do this.

Our family really enjoyed the chance to see you and Mat at Redsfest. Thanks again for making the long trip. Happy Holidays to you both!

Hey Dallas, congratulations on your No. 14 ranking in the PRO category of the Top 100 MLB.com Blogs list I posted on the community blog. You have been a great addition to the best baseball blogging community, and interestingly enough your blog was one of the main ways people found the community blog in 2012. “dallas latos” and “dallas latos blog” were two of the top 3 referral search terms to get to the community blog according to the WordPress year-end report. Just wanted to say Happy New Year and thanks again for being a great blogger!

I had been curious about in the event you ever thought of replacing the layout of one’s site? Its extremely nicely written; I enjoy what youve got to say. But maybe you could produce a a bit more within the way of content material so people might connect with it much better. Youve got an awful great deal of wording for only having one or two photographs. Perhaps you can area it out much better?

I just couldn’t depart your website prior to suggesting that I extremely enjoyed the standard information a person provide for your visitors? Is going to be back often in order to verify up on new posts

Why do I always find the good stuff way to late? I saw Mat often at Redsfest and LOVED his version of Bieber..what a good sport. Can’t wait for this year.
